On the 17th August 2017 just before 17.00hrs a
Fiat van sped onto the promenade at Las Ramblas in Barcelona it would be the beginning of
another Islamic terror attack using vehicles as the weapon of choice. Witnesses
describe how the van travelling at speed “zigzagged” down Las Ramblas ramming
pedestrians and cyclists, men and woman and we were to learn tragically later,
children. All in all 14 people died in the attack at Las Ramblas
with over 100 injured, later in Cambrils, an Audi car was again driven into pedestrians before overturning, at this point the five Islamic terrorists exited the car and began attacking bystanders killing a defenceless 63-year-old woman, all five attackers were neutralised by Spanish police.
with over 100 injured, later in Cambrils, an Audi car was again driven into pedestrians before overturning, at this point the five Islamic terrorists exited the car and began attacking bystanders killing a defenceless 63-year-old woman, all five attackers were neutralised by Spanish police.
In what is believed to be a related murder a 35-year-old man
was found dead in a car that had been driven through a police checkpoint, the
driver later escaping on foot. There are strong indications that the Islamic
terror cell had planned an even more destructive attack using explosives and
combustible gas. Explosions at a house in Alcanar on 16th August are thought to
have propelled the cell to carry out the attacks in Las Ramblas and Cambrils.
In that incident two suspected Islamic terrorists were killed and during the
investigation the gas ignited a second time injuring onsite investigators. The
driver of the vehicle in the Las Ramblas incident Younes Abouyaaqoub is still
at large and he is the focus of a European wide manhunt, which at the time of
writing is still in process.
There were what are now typical reactions, world leaders
condemning the attack, lights going out and much candle-lighting, the Muslim
community expressed concern it would be the focus of attack and the obligatory
Hashtags went viral. The blood was cleaned off the streets, newspapers listed
the poor victims and the world went on as before, until the next time when the
process begins again. There was talk of not being afraid, of unity, of Islam
being a Religion of Peace™, of life carrying on as before, the what we will do and what we can do continued,
whilst a father identified his 7-year-old
son in a morgue. The UK
government declared that it would now be harder to rent a vehicle, yet
terrorism doesn’t change us, everything goes on apparently as normal and the
terrorists will just simply adjust their modus operandi in order to kill.
Along with their pathetic vehicle rental restrictions, the UK announced a
crackdown on online hate under revised Crown Prosecution Service (CPS)
guidelines; in effect this means that the draconian measures used to silence
dissent offline could now be used for online free speech offenders. Offline it
is now illegal to condemn Islam, Mass-migration or fight against it, offenders
are faced with harassment, violence and others means in order to silence them. We
can see from recent events in America
the real-world violent attacks faced by those not parroting the party-line;
unfortunately it seems that Islam has been given carte blanche to continue
killing us.
